The Comprehension of Consciousness Is Not the Realization of Manas

It feels so easy to attain these supernatural powers, but is the conscious awareness and understanding truly an attainment? If it is an attainment, supernatural powers manifest instantly. If the supernatural powers do not appear, then there is no attainment of supernatural powers, and the conscious understanding proves futile, gains no traction, and yields not the slightest meritorious benefit of liberation. The same applies to the severance of self-view and the realization of the mind. The conscious understanding holds not the slightest meritorious benefit; it is not genuine severance of self-view. No matter how much the consciousness perceives the five aggregates as devoid of self, it is not the attainment of selflessness, nor is it the severance of self-view. Therefore, reading a book a hundred times until its meaning seems apparent is useless; it remains merely the understanding of consciousness, not the realization of the root consciousness. This principle is crucially important, exceedingly so. I urge you all to take it to heart and ponder deeply, ceasing to exalt emotional thoughts and intellectual interpretations as supreme, great, and precious, thereby misleading others after having misguided oneself.
