The Love of Worldly People and the Love of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas

The love of worldly people is premised on some benefit to the small self of the individual; if the individual lacks the assurance of such benefit, that so-called love will vanish or turn into hatred. But the great love of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas is selfless and without ego; it is for the benefit of sentient beings. That is why they are willing to pay any price for Buddhism and for sentient beings, heedless of the slander and unreasonable provocations of sentient beings.
