Explanation: In correctly contemplating the five aggregates (pañca-skandha), one must not take the aggregate of form as self, nor may one take the aggregate of form as belonging to self. Both "self" and "what belongs to self" are the view of self (satkāya-dṛṣṭi) and must both be eradicated, so that the mind holds no notion of the aggregate of form as self, nor of the aggregate of form as belonging to self. In daily life, one will then not engage, for the sake of the aggregate of form, in dharmas that ought not to be engaged in—for example, greedily clinging to the various feelings of the physical body, or giving rise to anger when the body cannot obtain the things it likes. Unwholesome karma, such as killing, stealing, sexual misconduct, and so forth, should all the more never be committed.
Only when there is a self is there "mine"; if there is no self, then there is no "mine." Both "self" and "mine" are not real or reliable and cannot be depended upon. When both are extinguished, liberation is attained.
