Introspecting One's Own Mind

When you hear someone praise and flatter you, and you feel happy and comfortable in your mind—what kind of mind is this? When you hear someone blame and mock you, and you become angry and resentful—what kind of mind is this? When you see people, things, and matters that have nothing to do with you, and you pay no attention to them—what kind of mind is this? When you see people, things, and matters closely related to yourself, and you pay special attention to them—what kind of mind is this? How do these minds arise, how do they change, and how do they cease? At such moments, which of the five aggregates (pañca-skandha) gives rise to this mind? Is this fivefold aggregate you? Does everyone cling to this mind, cling to this feeling and perception?
