The method to train for rapid sleep begins with the conscious mind suggesting that the mental faculty (manas) relaxes, which means allowing manas to cease grasping the body, preventing the body consciousness and mental consciousness from clinging to the body, and stopping the five sense consciousnesses and mental consciousness from engaging in deliberate actions. Then, the conscious mind suggests that manas stop thinking, meaning that solitary mental consciousness (manovijnana) no longer arises. If manas obeys the suggestions of the conscious mind, the six consciousnesses will gradually weaken and eventually cease. To achieve the desired effect, the key lies in the conscious mind's ability to guide and manas's willingness to obey and comply, thus reaching the goal.
