The Stages of Practice of the Thirty-Seven Aids to Enlightenment

The practice sequence of the thirty-seven factors of enlightenment is roughly as follows: beginning with the cultivation of the faculty of faith among the five faculties, one develops the five powers, then enters the Noble Eightfold Path, initiates contemplative cultivation, practices the seven factors of enlightenment, cultivates the contemplation of the four foundations of mindfulness within the factor of mindfulness, obtains the flavor of wholesome dharmas, arouses the four right efforts, and finally, through diligent and arduous practice, attains the fruit-bliss of the four bases of supernatural power, with the mind attaining freedom and liberation.

Each of the thirty-seven factors of enlightenment must not only be cultivated and attained by the mind consciousness, but must also permeate the manas, so that the manas also cultivates the thirty-seven factors of enlightenment, bringing them to complete perfection, attaining each factor of the path, and accomplishing the four bases of supernatural power.
