Dharma Teachings

18 Apr 2018    Wednesday     3rd Teach Total 377

All dharmas must be personally realized by the manas to count.

The method of deep contemplation, the method of fully exercising the function of the manas, is this: the mind consciousness analyzes clearly and thoroughly the dharma principles that need to be contemplated and investigated, then condenses the question into a single point and suspends it within the mind—this is handing it over to the manas. From then on, the work is handled by the manas, and the mind consciousness can assist.

In fact, everything is what the manas needs and must resolve. The mind consciousness is the manas's tool for solving problems; the five sense consciousnesses are also the manas's tools for solving problems; even the eighth consciousness is the manas's tool for solving problems. The manas makes use of all these tools to fulfill its own needs and achieve its own aims. Therefore, of course, every problem must ultimately be resolved by the manas personally, and personally ratified. The realization of all dharmas must be personally realized by the manas; only then will the manas be reassured, and only then can the problem be considered solved.

This has already brought the matter of the cultivation and realization of all dharmas to its very root and bottom line—there is nothing left to discuss. As for whether one accepts it or not, that is a matter of each person's wisdom, and has nothing to do with the Buddha's teachings.
