Hearing a statement or observing an object, ten people will hold ten different opinions, and a hundred people will have a hundred different views. Why is this so? Because each person's consciousness-mind differs, their perception differs accordingly; differing perceptions lead to differing feelings; differing feelings result in differing reactions; and differing reactions give rise to differing speech, actions, and karmic formations. Because the consciousness-mind has not attained a unified perception, each individual possesses their own level of understanding. Consequently, regarding any single matter, consensus becomes impossible. Without consensus, promoting the development and success of any endeavor becomes exceedingly difficult. This, indeed, is why worldly affairs are so challenging to accomplish!
On the other hand, it is said that Buddhas share the same Way. Why is the Way the same? Because every Buddha's cultivation has already reached perfection. Since it is perfection, it signifies the ultimate limit. Having all reached the ultimate limit, their level is certainly identical. Moreover, they are identical in every single aspect, most importantly in their wisdom. Thus, every Buddha holds the exact same view on any matter; there will never be any divergence or dispute among them. This means that the higher the wisdom attained by a sage through cultivation, the fewer points of divergence exist between them, the more common ground they share, and the more harmoniously and tacitly they can cooperate, achieving perfect consensus.
Therefore, the goal of our cultivation is to enhance our own wisdom, transforming our knowledge and views into insight (knowledge and views after attaining the Way are called insight), and to make this insight increasingly perfect. Then, all matters will become perfectly harmonious without obstruction.
