How Do the First Seven Consciousnesses Discern Objects of Intrinsic Nature?

The objective realm (real-form realm) is the shadow of the six sense objects manifested by the tathāgatagarbha in accordance with the true nature of external objects; it is composed of subtle particles of the four great elements within the supreme faculty (indriya). The seven consciousnesses—the manas—first contact and first discern it, while the mind consciousness contacts and discerns it afterward. If the seventh consciousness contacts these images but does not decisively and minutely discern them, the six consciousnesses cannot be brought forth to discern them, because when the manas does not need these discerning tools of the six consciousnesses, the tathāgatagarbha will not transform and create the tools of the six consciousnesses. It is impossible for the seventh consciousness not to contact the six sense objects; relying on the tathāgatagarbha, like a tower by the water catching the moonlight first, He can borrow the light to know everything in advance.
