How to Seek the Eighth Consciousness

In Chan meditation, when seeking to realize the eighth consciousness through enlightenment, one must not only understand the inherent nature of the eighth consciousness, but also know where He reveals Himself everywhere. ...... Since the eighth consciousness pervades all places, where is He not? Where is He absent? Without Him, there would be nothing at all—no "where," no "what place." With Him, there is everything—there is a "where," there is a "what place." What a flexible and adaptable dharma this is! There is no need to make the mind consciousness rigid and inflexible, nor is there any need to make a grand display of elaborations upon the mind consciousness. We need only let the mind consciousness introspect—contemplate where it comes from, contemplate where it arises—and we will naturally find the road back home. After finding and realizing Him, wisdom will arise, thereby giving rise to the prajñā wisdom of ultimate reality; and when that wisdom is perfectly complete, one will attain buddhahood.
